Solemnity of All Saints

R. Lord, this is the people that longs to see your face.

Written by Julianna Nett

Have you ever missed someone so much and just can’t wait to see their face? Perhaps you’re in a long distance relationship, friendship, or live far from family. Or perhaps you even live far from a place you love or a food you love and look forward to having whenever you visit that place. This is how Jesus feels as well in the time between us stepping foot into his house.

Have you ever looked around at mass to see all of the people around you? They feel the same way He does even if we do not realize it. We all long for belonging, community, safety, and comfort. Whether we have realized it or not, this can all be found within the comfort of the Father. He wants to provide that for us.

Will you let him?

It does not matter how many times you mess up. It does not matter how much smack you talked during a football game. It does not matter if you did not open the door for someone because you didn’t feel like it. It does not matter if you feel like the person next to you is doing way more than you and is “way more deserving”. What matters is that you try. Come as you are. He means that. His grace is so good and his love is so good. Have you ever gone a while without going to confession, adoration, or even Mass and you long for it and it feels so good when you’re reunited with Him? That longing is always there, you just may not feel or realize it.

When was the last time you felt yourself long to see His face?
