2nd Sunday of Advent

R. The lord has done great things for us, we are filled with joy.

Written by Will Hickl

How often do we turn to God and give Him thanks for all the blessings we have?  At times it seems to be easier for us to only turn to Him in times of despair or trial, which we should, but not exclusively.  We know the journey is full of both ups and downs, and finding joy through every season is worth striving for.

When I find myself unhappy, I can almost certainly trace it to a lack of gratitude.  I’ve learned this from a combination of counseling, wisdom from friends, speakers, hearing guests on podcast, and more importantly personal experience.  Though not perfect, I strive to recognize all the good things God has done for me and my family every day, and let those truths fill me with joy.

It’s the lies that keep us from experiencing true joy, so what truths and in what ways has God provided for you?
