8th Sunday in Ordinary Time

R. Lord, it is good to give thanks to you.

Written by Ryan Harkins

How good it is for the soul to be grateful. Grateful to our friends, our family, those who have gone before us, and ultimately, grateful to God, who from Him all good blessings flow.

As the psalmist says, “It is good to give thanks to you”. I would also add, “It is true to give thanks to you. It is beautiful to give thanks to you”, because God is all these things - Goodness, Truth, and Beauty itself.

These three elements encompass the essence of who we are and what we are capable of as human persons. We are created to do good with our actions, seek truth with our minds, and let no stain of sin come upon our souls.

All that is good, true, and beautiful is of God - how can we better recognize this in the day to day?

Pray with today’s psalm.
