Solemnity of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus

R. You will draw water joyfully from the springs of salvation.

Written by Jasmyn Joubert

The imagery within this psalm is profound and beautiful. The reality that in the same way we need water to live here on earth we need salvation to have eternal life. The truth that this salvation flows for all of us like a spring - never running dry.

I pray often for the confidence that the psalmist has as they write:

“God indeed is my savior;
I am confident and unafraid.
My strength and my courage is the LORD,
And he has been my savior.”

There is such a peace in these words. A calm in knowing that no matter what comes in this life God is there as your strength when you are weak and as your courage when you are scared. So often I feel like I need to do it all myself, to prove that I am capable. This psalm reminds me that “doing it yourself” is not the gold standard of living. Admitting that you need the Lord and His grace just like you need water is the true gold standard. May we all accept the loving hand of God as he carries us through this life and prayerfully, welcomes us into the next.

In what ways do you need to increase your confidence in the Lord?
